The 1910s
The MOSCOT optical roots were first planted by Great-Great-Grandpa Hyman Moscot, who arrived from Eastern Europe via Ellis Island in 1899. He began selling ready-made eyeglasses from a pushcart on Orchard Street on Manhattan’s Lower East Side, and by 1915, opened the family’s first Shop at 94 Rivington Street.

Broome Street’s Happiness Deli owner, Mohammed, has been serving tuna wraps and good looks since the 1980s. Fun fact: this is the spot where Joel (3rd Generation) regularly grabbed lunch for the team. An homage to Mohammed’s classy round frames. The KANAKA lets you take Happiness to-go!

We named this frame The GROYSE because it's big. Big on style, big on character, and just plain big. Big, big, big. With its soft round shape, raw gold color, retro, flat beveled edges, and a bridge that sits high. The GROYSE is 1970s all the way. Can you dig?

Orchard Street resident and neighbor to Great great Grandpa Hyman, Walter Greenbaum was what we used to call a real "kibitser" - eccentric fellow - who liked to talk...all the time...to anyone within earshot...and even to those who weren't listening. Fortunately for Walter, Hyman was all ears. In honor of our late kibitser, we give you, The KIBITS.
